  One phone shows a QR code, the other scans it, and the two finish pairing over Bluetooth. No server is involved, so nobody learns who paired with whom.

  Every message has its own key, giving forward secrecy and break-in recovery.

• A dumb relay

  Messages travel through anonymous mailboxes on a relay that only ever sees padded ciphertext. Delivered messages are deleted from it.

• Stays on the device

  Keys and message history are excluded from iCloud and computer backups.
